Customer research, angles, hooks, direct-response scripts and briefs, tested at volume on Meta. Below: real ads I ran with real numbers, DTC brand ads I made at Trifid Media, and spec work built for TrySpartan and FurLife.

Dubai Christmas photo sessions. One campaign, 26 creatives, Purchase-optimised with server-side Conversions API.
The Setup Collective, Dubai. One Meta campaign, 26 creatives (34 ads), Purchase-optimised, Pixel plus server-side Conversions API with custom funnel events. Totals: AED 2,514 spend, 13 bookings, AED 12,950 revenue, 5.2x ROAS, 2.83% CTR. Numbers straight from Meta Ads Manager, lifetime to 2 Nov 2026.

Lowest price point up front, one clear session, one clear date range.

A free digital Christmas card as the reason to book now, designed as a real postcard.

Reframed the session as a present for grandma and grandpa, not a photoshoot.

Three generations in one photo. Highest CTR of the whole account.

Talks to the mum who is always behind the camera. Copy written on the creative, not in the caption.
How I document tests: what we tried, what happened, what we did next.
| Test | Hypothesis | Result | Decision |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mini offer (06) | Lead with the cheapest session | 5 bookings, 6.3x ROAS | Scaled, then paused 24 Oct when frequency hit 1.5 and results dropped. Audience was used up. |
| Postcard card (40) | Free Christmas card if you book by 31 Oct | 3 bookings, 5.7x ROAS | Ran until the offer date. Its two sister cards (expecting, siblings) were cut early. A deadline plus a real object worked. |
| Grandparents angle (01, 12) | Session as a gift for the grandparents | 01: 4.5% CTR, 11x ROAS. 12: 2.9% CTR, 7.6x ROAS | Winning angle on small spend. Rolled into new formats instead of new angles. |
| Copy on the creative (63-65) | Founder's own words written on the image | Hey mama: 12.7x ROAS on AED 114 | Three versions went live together. Hey mama took the spend and the booking, the other two spent under AED 12 each. |
| 48 hour urgency (66) | Countdown pressure | 0.82% CTR | One of the weakest CTRs, only AED 29 spent. Urgency with no reason behind it did not land. |
| Card girl (67) | Pretty kid photo, no idea behind it | 0.51% link CTR, 1 booking on AED 195 | Weakest of the ads that spent. A nice photo is not a concept. |
| Instant lead forms (Adjoltz, July) | Cheapest possible lead | 55 leads at AED 4.67, 0 buyers | Cheap leads, no intent. Moved to a landing page with a qualifying form plus a WhatsApp setter. |
Short-form for consumer brands across beauty, fragrance, food, home, retail and fashion. Live TikTok counts pulled 2 Nov 2026, tap any card to watch it. 66 videos across 11 industries, 264M views in total.
Reviews, Reddit, comments, support tickets, the ad library and the brand's own data. AI does the first pass over thousands of reviews, I read the best ones myself.
Written down in the customer's own words, ranked by how often they show up.
One insight per angle. Every angle names the desire or objection it hits.
10 to 20 hooks per angle across formats: UGC, founder, demo, us vs them, listicle, testimonial.
Beat-by-beat scripts and briefs an editor or creator can shoot without a call.
Timestamped notes to editors and designers: what to cut, what to hold, where the hook lands late.
Concept first, then hooks, then formats. Thumb-stop, hold rate, CTR, CPA against target. Kill fast, iterate winners.
Every test goes in the log: hypothesis, result, decision, next test.
Not commissioned. Built from public reviews and the brands' own sites, the way I'd start on day one.
SPEC WORK. Prepared by Manu Konar for the Senior Creative Strategist application at 115 Ventures. Not commissioned by, approved by, or produced for TrySpartan. All brand facts, prices, quotes and ad observations come from public pages read on 2 Nov 2026 (URLs in each evidence line). Benchmarks in the test plan are general Meta DTC rules of thumb, not TrySpartan data.
Men's hair-growth shampoo system (hero), plus men's health supplements, weight-loss supplements, beard growth and a red light cap. All sold DTC with multi-month bundles and subscribe-and-save.
| Headline offer | "BUNDLE & SAVE UP TO 66% OFF" (site banner) / "Hurry! Order Now & Save Up To 66% Off" (landing page) |
|---|---|
| Guarantee marketing | "90 DAY MONEY BACK GUARANTEE" (site). Landing page: "a 90-day, no-questions-asked guarantee... If it somehow doesn't work for you and you don't experience any hair growth, we will issue you an immediate refund." |
| Guarantee policy | Refund policy: "90-Day Results Guarantee. If you don't see the results you expected using our products, we'll give you your money back." No return required; contact support within 90 days of receiving the product. |
| Shipping | "FREE SHIPPING ABOVE $70" banner; 1-month plan shows "$4.95 Shipping & Handling"; 3+ month plans show "Free Delivery". |
| Subscription | One-time purchase or subscribe; system page says "Cancel any time. No commitment". |
| Urgency devices | "More than 347 purchased in the last 48 hours!", "Recommended for you based on your quiz results", mystery discount pop-up "YOU JUST SCORED A MYSTERY DISCOUNT"). |
| Results timeline claimed | "Visible Results after 8-12 weeks" (Shampoo 2.0 page), "Visible Results after 10-12 weeks" and "3-6 months" for optimal results (system page), "Real Results Take 90 Days" (Shampoo 2.0 page). |
1) Ad delivery is the problem before creative performance is. With the main page's ads flagged for Advertising Standards, the first job is creative that passes review on an owned, clean brand page. That means "thicker-looking", "supports scalp", honest timelines and real customer voice, not "blocks DHT", "regrow" or "77% less shedding". 2) The current hook (crown in a photo from above) is strong and worth keeping. 3) The biggest conversion leak is trust: refund, auto-ship and fake-review fears are all over Trustpilot and Reddit, and the hero product page shows placeholder content "Lorem ipsum" reviews, "HEADING", men's-health benefits like "SUPPORTS HEALTHY TESTOSTERONE LEVELS", beard-oil FAQs, and both "30-DAY GUARANTEE" and "90-day guarantee" badges). Creative can pre-empt these objections, but the page has to match.
shop.try-spartan.com is a quiz-result style sales page "Hair Profile Matched: Here is Your Hair Growth Plan") with three dermatologist quotes and strong claims: "Blocks DHT", "Visibly reduces shedding by 77% in under 90 days", "Results that rival $900 hair clinics", "reduce DHT levels up to 73%". The FAQ answers on that page currently reference a different product "Forge - Wrinkle Defense Tallow Balm").
An advertorial on TechTimes "Spartan Shampoo Reviews: Must Read Before Buying...") with affiliate links and a "Mark D, 42" testimonial. A product handle "root-activator-shampoo-tts" suggests a TikTok Shop listing (not verified). Customers describe long post-purchase upsell videos.
Spartan's own best reviews say people noticed at month 6-12, while the 1-stars come from guys who expected weeks. Say the slow part out loud and you win trust and sell the 6-month bundle honestly.
Objections: "it doesn't work", "guarantee too short", "reviews look fake". Desire: family noticing.Men researching hair loss know about finasteride and are scared of the side effects. Spartan is the no-prescription first step they can start tonight in the shower.
Motivation: non-drug first step. Objection: "is this a drug?" Problem: fear of side effects.Happy customers talk about holding the line, not miracles. Target early thinners who just saw their crown in a photo, and be upfront that it is not for fully bald men.
Desire: keep hairline, hide crown. Objection: "I'm too far gone" (pre-qualifies, cuts refunds). No new habit, just a swap. Show the tingle, the smell and the lather so the routine feels real and doable, 4 times a week, 2-3 minutes.
Motivation: low effort, sensory feedback. Objection: "another complicated routine". Counters "adds 3 minutes to my shower" by framing it as a ritual.| Time | Visual | Voiceover / on-screen |

| 0-3s | Creator to camera in bathroom, holds phone showing a top-down photo of his crown. | VO: "If a hair shampoo promises you results in two weeks, scroll past." | On-screen: "Nobody tells you this part" |

Grab the 3 or 6-month supply. Six months works out to $21.65 a bottle, and you get a 90-day money-back guarantee." | On-screen: "Up to 66% off bundles. 90-Day Money-Back Guarantee." |

| 18-26s | Trustpilot review on phone screen, finger points to the line. | On-screen quote: "This line of products has kept my hairline in tact." - Preston, Trustpilot | VO: "It's not magic. It's a routine. They say give it 8 to 12 weeks." |
| 26-35s | Offer card with bundles and guarantee badge, creator puts the bottle in his shower caddy. | VO: "Bundles are up to 66% off right now, with a 90-day money-back guarantee. Start with the shower you're already taking." | On-screen: "No pills. No prescription. 90-Day Money-Back Guarantee." |

| Title | Creator brief: The Month-6 Truth | ||||||||||||||
| Objective | Get new customers for Root Activator Shampoo 2.0 bundles on Meta (Reels, Stories, Feed) with ads that pass Meta review on an owned brand page and pull buyers toward the 3 and 6-month supply. Secondary goal: fewer "it didn't work in 4 weeks" refunds by setting the right timeline up front. | ||||||||||||||
| Audience | US men 40-65 with early thinning at the crown, temples or hairline. They have tried something before, are wary of prescription side effects, and are skeptical of ads. Secondary: partners who buy for them. | ||||||||||||||
| Angle | Honesty sells. Tell them it takes months, show the simple routine, let real reviews do the persuading, and close on the bundle plus the 90-day guarantee. | ||||||||||||||

SPEC WORK. Unsolicited sample prepared by Manu Konar for the 115 Ventures Senior Creative Strategist application. Not commissioned by, affiliated with, or approved by FurLife or 115 Ventures. Built only from public pages read on 2 Nov 2026 (URLs in sources). No access to ad account data, so no performance numbers are claimed.
| Hero pdp offer | $39.99 single; 2+ at $35.99 each; 4+ at $33.99 each. Free shipping above $40 (so a single tag at $39.99 sits 1 cent under the threshold; a 2-pack clears it). Bonus free Anti-Flea and Tick eBook 'Normally valued at $39.95'). 'Ready to ship within 24 hours'. |
|---|---|
| Guarantee | 30-Day Money Back Guarantee. Refund policy: contact support within 30 days of receiving the product, 'There is no need to return the products.' |
| Offers seen in ads and presell pages |
|
| Colostrum offer | Subscribe and save up to 38%, free shipping on subscriptions, cancel anytime, 90-Day Money Back Guarantee; ad copy: 'Save up to $150 on the 3-tub bundle, 90 days of support, plus 2 free gifts.' |
This pack focuses on: Hero product = FurLife 12 Months All Natural Flea and Tick Tag (pendant) for Dogs. Chosen because it carries the most reviews (18,702 on the site widget) and most of the active Meta ads. Colostrum+ and Imprint are newer lines (ads started late Oct 2026) and deserve their own pack.
Most buyers are not new to flea prevention, they are quitting a monthly routine they felt bad about; the win is 'nothing on the skin, nothing to swallow, clip it once'.
Desire: no chemicals on skin or by mouth. Motivation: safety for pet and family. Objection: 'is it safe?'The 1-star pile comes from people who bought it mid-infestation; an ad that says 'don't buy this if your dog has fleas today' earns trust, filters bad-fit buyers and protects refund rate.
Objections: 'does it work?' and 'my dog already has fleas'. Builds trust against the 'is this legit?' doubt. The most believable proof is from owners whose dogs live where ticks are (deer in the yard, woods, Arkansas, pond swims), specific places beat 'game-changer'.
Objection: 'do essential oils really work?' Desire: outdoor freedom without the nightly tick hunt.Multi-pet homes already buy in multiples, and the $40 free-shipping line plus 10% off at 2+ makes 'one for every pet' the natural order, lifting AOV.
Motivation: value and convenience. Desire: one simple system for dogs and cats.| Time | Visual | Voiceover / on-screen |

| 0-3s | Creator in kitchen holds a small FurLife tag up to the lens, dog at their feet. | VO: "I stopped doing the monthly flea routine for my dog. This is what I use now." | TEXT: I quit the monthly flea routine |
| 3-8s | Quick cut: calendar reminder 'flea meds' on phone, creator swipes it away. Dog scratching behind ear. | VO: "Every month it was something on his skin or something he had to swallow, and I never felt great about it." | TEXT: On his skin. Or down his throat. |
| 8-15s | Macro of the tag, then one-take clip onto the collar with a 10-second timer on screen. Thumb presses the pod fully in. | VO: "This is the FurLife tag. Natural essential oils, citronella, cedarwood, peppermint, and it clips onto any collar. Nothing on his skin, nothing to swallow." | TEXT: Clips on. That's it. |
| 15-22s | Dog running through the yard, then shaking off after a hose or lake splash. | VO: "It's waterproof, it stretches to fit any collar, and one tag is made to last 12 months." | TEXT: Waterproof. Any collar. 12 months. |
| 22-29s | Phone screen scrolling the real review section; one line highlighted. | VO: "There are over 18,000 reviews, and this one is exactly how I feel." | TEXT (review card): "I feel so much better not giving her anything by mouth for this." |
| 29-35s | Creator straight to camera, relaxed, dog on the couch beside them. | VO: "One honest tip: it's prevention. If your dog already has fleas, sort that out first, then clip it on." | TEXT: Prevention, not a rescue. |
| 35-42s | Two tags in hand (different colors), then the PDP bundle selector on phone. | VO: "It's $39.99, or $35.99 each when you get two, and that clears free shipping. Plus a 30-day money-back guarantee, and you don't even have to send it back." | TEXT: 2+ tags = $35.99 each + free shipping. 30-day money-back. |
| 42-45s | End card: tag on collar, dog in grass, Shop Now button. | TEXT: Tap Shop Now | getfurlife.com |
CTA: Tap Shop Now: get 2 FurLife tags at $35.99 each with free shipping (over $40), backed by the 30-day money-back guarantee. Confirm the live price/code (TICKFREE) with the media buyer before launch so ad and PDP match.

| 0-3s | Creator holds the tag up, serious face, dog in tall grass behind. | VO: "Don't buy this if your dog has fleas right now." | TEXT: Don't buy this if your dog has fleas today |
| 3-9s | Creator shakes head, small smile. Cut to tag macro. | VO: "I mean it. It's not a flea treatment. It's prevention. People clip it on mid-infestation and then say it doesn't work." | TEXT: It's prevention, not a rescue |
| 9-16s | 3-step sequence: dog bath and towel dry, tag clipped on, thumb pressing the pod fully in, dog trotting off. | VO: "Here's how I use it. Clean slate first. Then the tag goes on and it lives on his collar." | TEXT: 1. Clean slate 2. Clip it on 3. Keep it on |
| 16-23s | Ingredient names fade over a macro of the pod; dog jumps into a creek. | VO: "It's a blend of essential oils, citronella, cedarwood, lemongrass, peppermint, geranium and rosemary. Waterproof, so swims are fine, and one tag is made to last 12 months." | TEXT: 6 essential oils. Waterproof. 12 months. |
| 23-31s | Three review cards stack on screen over B-roll of the dog walking the trail. | VO: "And the people who use it that way? Years in." | TEXT cards: "Our standard poodle has used this product since he was a puppy." / "This will be the third year for my dogs." / "We've been using for 2 years now" |

| 38-40s | End card with tag, Shop Now. | TEXT: Shop Now | getfurlife.com |
CTA: Shop Now: clip it on before the next flea and tick flare-up. 2+ tags at $35.99 each, free shipping over $40, 30-day money-back guarantee.

| Seasonality note | Testing starts in November, when flea and tick demand is usually lower in much of the US. Judge concepts against each other, not against summer CPAs. Customer reviews point to year-round use in warm states 'we live in Arkansas and have them almost year round!'), which can inform geo or copy tests. |
